CREATIVE OVERVIEW : COOPERS SHOOT RESIDENCE
This project called for the transformation of a dated 1980’s red brick “homestead” into a contemporary Byron Bay hinterland luxury residence. Nestled on top of the Cooper’s Shoot ridge-line boasting 290 degree panoramic views of the ocean and hinterland, the brief welcomed us to open up and expand the existing home to take advantage of the magnificent setting. A large entertaining deck overlooking an infinity-edge pool to the hinterland beyond was a major focus for the improved design. Two new pavilions were also introduced to accommodate a guest wing, art studio, home office and workshop.
A major design consideration lay with addressing the tricky west-facing aspect from the kitchen and outdoor entertaining spaces. Sliding aluminium screens provided a versatile solution, allowing for maximum flexibility in controlling sunlight and airflow throughout the year.
