“The Couple worked with Davis Architects and Belcon Constructions to build their home over eight months and didn’t encounter any obstacles – apart from a painfully long approval process with council. Was it worth it? Absolutely. “No matter the lighting or season, each room feels special and beautiful,” says O’Rourke. “In the living room the view out onto the terrace and up through the void is stunning.”

The family loves their new house so much that despite the incredible surrounds of Byron Bay, they actually have to force themselves to leave home. “I’m usually in the garden, the kids are playing in the yard and my husband is tinkering in the garage,” says O’Rourke. When guests visit, they inevitably stay for hours. “It’s very peaceful and relaxing and time just tends to slip away—which we don’t mind at all!”
