CREATIVE OVERVIEW : COOPERS SHOOT RESIDENCE : LUXURY RESIDENTIAL ARCHITECT

This “Palm Springs” inspired luxury Byron Bay home is designed for a site on a quiet back lane in the hinterland of Northern NSW.  Overlooking Broken Head and the Pacific Ocean, the design responds to the local context, unique site terrain and our client’s specific needs.  Our major design challenge on such an inspiring site was how to make a large 6 bedroom home appear understated and more approachable (house area over 750 sqm), whilst at the same time allowing most of the major spaces to access the impressive views.  From the street and entry approach the house appears more modest, ‘dug’ into the land, with the roof grassed roofed garage becoming an extension of the front garden.  From the pool and ocean side the true scale of the house reveals itself.

As a luxury residential architect living and working in Byron Bay, Ed Davis brings an intimate understanding of local climate to all of our projects.  Large covered outdoor spaces provide for year-round entertaining.  On the flip side, smaller more intimate sheltered courtyards provide retreat spaces from the unfavourable seasonal conditions.

Some of the key features of the house include:

  • Large open plan living and seamlessly linked outdoor areas
  • 15m heated pool and spa
  • 4 car garage and storage
  • Separate Master Bedroom wing and indoor- outdoor ensuite bathroom.
  • Gym
  • Grass roofed courtyard, viewing pavilion
  • Integrated solar PV panels and concealed rainwater storage
  • Passive solar design
