CREATIVE OVERVIEW : BYRON BAY SUN HOUSE

This residence is located on a constricted site in the heart of Byron Bay, within walking distance of the Main Beach and shopping areas. The design challenge presented was to design a modern sanctuary for the new owners and to create a sense of space, light and privacy within a tight 500sqm site. This was achieved through the double height living space with over-sized multi-stack doors that disappear into the wall when open. The addition of a pool and integration of landscape, deck and courtyard all work in unison to form a seamless indoor-outdoor living space. The plan form was divided into two separate “sleeping” wings, with kids and guest rooms on the western wing and master bedroom located on the eastern wing. This created privacy and separation, effectively making the house feel larger than what it was.
